Paint bombs, VR training, and a tanker that prints drones mid flight? Must be the Day 3 wrap up. All three of these ideas were submitted today, with augustcole suggesting“FC-48 Fabship aircraft” could fill the skies with on demand UAV’s, assembled mid-flight to ensure maximum flexibility. Speaking of flexibility, training in 2040 will look very different than today, with khutchinson writing a trio of Sparks that would have future students relying on VR, digital professors, or maybe just a friendly AI study buddy for those late nights in the library. You can check out all three in the Imaginarium. While you’re there, take a look at ackattack’s Spark about using paint to blind optical sensors, and their expansion of the same idea in the Workshop, “Ten-Cent Defeat.” Will technology overextend our reach? Is a shovel the best anti-drone weapon? Let us know in the Workshop. Let’s do the numbers…

The Imaginarium is up to 50 Sparks, and the Workshop is assembling 58 ideas. The Marketplace is now tracking 48 potential investments, 29 of them from Sparks, and 4 are spin offs, where one idea led to one of those “Eureka!” moments that send technology in a new direction. If you have your own Eureka moment, let us know in the comments or on twitter, @scitechfutures. Up on the Leaderboard redcell254 is looking tough to catch, but angelagh and ackattack put up big scores, putting pressure on the top 3. Thanks again to everyone who submitted a Spark, sorted an idea onto the timeline, and contributed to the discussion. We’ll be back tomorrow but until then here are a few more sketches from the art team.
