AI-Enhanced Hypnotic Human Conditioning

Describe your idea

Each soldier's file will contain detailed information on that individual's physical, psychological and intellectual conditions and capabilities. AI-enhanced conditioning will employ that detailed personal profile to develop an individual mission preparation and conditioning program that will maximize individual potential and conditioning for future missions. Post-mission analysis and conditioning can reduce PTSD and enhanced fitness for future missions.

There are recent commercial technologies that claim to induce a meditative state. This is being used for relaxation, but could different stimuli induce a different cognitive state?

Biofeedback has incredible potential but is only being used as treatment as opposed to performance enhancement.

What is the optimal brain condition for preparing for a mission? Or for conducting a mission? Or for combat?

Good Soldiers have techniques to "get their mind right" or "get their head in the game." It would be a lot easier if it was just a switch.

What makes this idea new or different?

Although we have been discussing "human potential" for a long time, there have been no really extensive uses of hypnosis or mental conditioning since the rather primitive covert experiments of the 1950-1960 era. This effort would employ state of the art research conducted under the Human Dimension program since the 1990's.

What will be the implications of this idea?

Improved individual and small unit performance with increased mission success and fewer unpleasant after-effects.

The challenge to balance privacy, mission success, individual health, and social accountability is difficult. Reducing unpleasant after-effects, for instance, could be viewed as white-washing the social and physical harms of certain operations. However, the need to protect the individuals who serve is key as well, and so is overall success of the mission. There may also be perceptions that these methods represent a compromise to individual privacy, so building this type of system with appropriate checks and balances is key.
